lasting and made with purpose.

EMBR is a UK-based, design-led lighting studio. We sit comfortably between design and craftsmanship, where ideas are shaped by real materials, real processes, and real people.

We believe lighting should do more than fill a space, it should shape how it feels, how it’s used, and how it lasts over time. That means designing with intent from the outset, choosing materials for their honesty, and building products that can be repaired, not replaced. It’s a slower, more considered way of working, but one that creates products that live much longer.

Designed by makers

EMBR was founded by three people who believe lighting should be built, not just specified. With backgrounds spanning design, engineering, and manufacturing, they work close to the process, where ideas are tested, refined, and made real. That proximity shapes everything, from the way materials are chosen to how each product is assembled, repaired, and improved over time.

At EMBR, we believe in shining a light on what truly matters, like supporting our local communities. That’s why we’re proud sponsors of two grassroots football teams in Yorkshire, the Garforth Villa U11s and Amaranth U10s. We provide the gear, the shirts, and some extra support to make sure these young players can gain the confidence, character and sense of belonging they deserve.
